Why Republicans shouldn’t vote in presidential elections!

Ok…its official!  I am completely convinced that devout Republicans should completely recuse themselves from voting in upcoming presidential elections. Let’s actually pretend for a moment that voting actually counts…if that premise is true then the blame for our current state of affairs lay mostly in the laps of the GOP elephants!

Picture it! 1992…George H.W. Bush is the president of the United States running against the challenger, Williams Jefferson Clinton.   Under Bush Sr’s presidency, the U.S. managed to find itself in a recession with an unemployment rate of 7.8%.  Bush Sr. broke his campaign promise about not raising taxes. In fact the biggest issue for the American people at that time was the failing economy.   So on election day, what did you devout Republicans do?  Vote for Bush…again!  You voted again for a mediocre president who proved that he could not clean up the mess that his Republican predecessor (Reagan) made of the economy! Thank God that the man you supported was the loser.   I’m sure we can pretty much conclude that you used bad judgement with that vote!

Now lets fast-forward to 1996.  Under a Bill Clinton presidency, 15 million low-income families got tax cuts, as well as 90% of small businesses. The unemployment rate dropped to 5.1%, the economy bounced back.  We were on the right track again.  However, the Republican presidential candidate Bob Dole thought that he could do a better job in running the country.  On election day, what did you devout Republicans do? Vote for Bob Dole!  You rejected prosperity and peace in order to take a chance on the unknown! But guess what? Your man lost!  Let’s just conclude that you showed bad judgement on that vote as well.

Ok…now we are in 2000.  Bill managed to get himself involved in scandal however, the economy continued to prosper.  The unemployment rate dropped even further to a whopping 3.9%, the lowest it has been since 1969!  Under a Bill Clinton administration, the $290 billion deficit he inherited under Bush 41’s administration became a $230 billion surplus when he left office.  Al Gore decided to run for the presidency and continue Bill Clinton’s economic policies.  George Bush Jr. decided to run against him. So what did you devout Republicans do?  Vote for Bush Jr. of course!  Do I really need to go into why that was a lapse in judgement on your part?

Now lets move to 2004. I am sure that you get the point by now.  You Republicans again decided to vote for Bush even though he proved his ineptitude during the first four years of his presidency.  Once again, we can all conclude that your vote was yet another exercise in bad judgement.

So here we are anticipating the 2008 elections.  You Republicans have proven time and time again that you show a lack of good judgement when it comes to exercising your voting rights. In fact, I am sure that most of you have already decided to vote for Bush III…er…I mean John McCain.  You’ve been wrong for the last twenty years! Do you honestly still trust your own judgment when it comes to these matters? Its time to stop trusting your own judgement and the judgment of your fellow party members.  Unless you are willing to go against your natural inclination to vote for your own party, it may be time to turn in your voter registration card.  Stop voting in presidential elections–you only make things worse! Your track record proves it.  Do your patriotic duty and REFRAIN FROM VOTING!  You owe us!

  1. Wow….I agree partially with this article. I think Republicans have been making the same error for years, but they can change this. Republicans SHOULD vote but for someone they really think will help the big economical crisis that the United States and the whole world is undergoing. People should stop voting for a party and their symbol, focusing on what each candidate can offer the nation. I think it’s Obama’s opportunity to make the real difference because if he doesn’t, who will?

  2. i strongly agree with this article and its first reply, i feel that a simple look at the facts in this way easily shows how each party handles economic issues with its policies. We have consistently seen an improvement under the democratic party and i believe al gore would have made an exceptional choice over george bush now certainly. i mean, you cant get any worse so it was an obvious choice? hindsight however is always 20/20, or at least for some. obama for a restored america. bring back the power of the dollar!

  3. Al Gore did win that election in 2000. And just imagine where we should be right now, instead of what we have had to endure – Iraq war, Patriot Act, Homeland Security waste, EPA gutted, justice dept a joke, CIA scandals, FEMA, SEC, and Commerce Dept run by idiots and cronies. Science ignored, Social Security under attack, the Prescription Drug Bill waste, Energy Dept taking orders from Cheney, Justice Scalia and Roberts….
